The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has introduced the Sanchar Saathi mobile app, a game-changing tool designed to combat telecom fraud. Available on Google Play and Apple App stores, the app empowers users to flag fraudulent communications directly from call logs. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia hailed it as a secure and user-friendly initiative to enhance trust in telecom networks.

Key features include tracking and blocking lost phones via IMEI, identifying unauthorized SIMs, and deactivating them. The app also educates users about telecom scams. It reflects India’s vision of a “Viksit” and “Surakshit Bharat,” fostering trust in the digital ecosystem.

Sharing his views with the Economic Times, Neehar Pathare, MD, CEO, and CIO of 63SATS, commended the Sanchar Saathi app for simplifying telecom security but stressed the need for broader efforts against cyber fraud.

“Telecom is just the last mile. To build a truly secure digital India, we need robust cybersecurity solutions, public-private collaboration, and continuous innovation,” Pathare said.

He emphasized developing comprehensive cybersecurity apps, investing in advanced technologies, and educating citizens about digital threats. While the app marks a critical milestone, a collective effort will ensure India’s citizens remain secure in an increasingly connected world.
