Quad Nations Join Forces for Cybersecurity Workforce Development

The Quad partners—Australia, India, Japan, and the United States—have reinforced their commitment to strengthening global cybersecurity through the Quad Cyber Challenge. This initiative, led by the Quad Senior Cyber Group, focuses on creating responsible cyber ecosystems, enhancing public awareness, and developing a robust cybersecurity workforce.

This year’s challenge centers on cybersecurity education, aiming to build a skilled workforce to combat growing global cyber threats by bringing together governments, educational institutions, and the private sector.

Pro-Palestine Hackers Target Cyprus’ Critical Infrastructure

Cyprus’ critical infrastructure and government websites were hit by a series of cyberattacks linked to pro-Palestine hacker groups. Although most attacks caused only temporary disruptions, facilities like banks, airports, and government services were briefly impacted.

Cyber officials had been on alert following threats on Telegram and dark web forums from groups such as LulzSec Black and Moroccan Soldiers, who claimed the attacks were in response to Cyprus’ support for Israel. Despite the politically motivated strikes, most systems remained resilient, with local cybersecurity firms confirming that the attacks caused minimal damage.

Casio Faces Prolonged Delivery Delays After Ransomware Attack

Japanese watchmaker’s systems crippled by cyberattack, recovery efforts ongoing

Casio announced that delivery delays caused by an October ransomware attack will extend into November, as the company works to restore affected systems. The attack, claimed by the “Underground” ransomware gang, has disrupted the company’s repair services and caused significant backlogs.

With 204.9 GB of stolen data allegedly held by the attackers, Casio is racing to recover and resume normal operations. The company expects to fully restore systems by the end of November but has temporarily halted repairs until further notice.

CoinSwitch accuses WazirX of questionable fund transfers following a data breach

Following a major security breach that led to the theft of $230 million, crypto exchange WazirX moved over $73 million worth of cryptocurrency to other platforms like Bybit and Kucoin. Rival firm CoinSwitch raised concerns about the platform’s stability after discovering these transfers.

WazirX, facing liabilities of $546.5 million, has not denied the transfers but criticized CoinSwitch for failing to provide real-time proof of reserves. The crypto exchange continues to face scrutiny as the fallout from the breach unfolds.

Hezbollah Supporters Launch Cyberattacks on Israeli Hospitals

Hackers claiming allegiance to Hezbollah have launched cyberattacks against hospitals in northern Israel, following a bombing in Beirut that targeted a Hezbollah medical facility. Social media posts from these attackers speculated about hidden materials under Israeli hospitals, including Assuta and Carmel, though one image falsely depicted the hospital’s location.

These cyberattacks mark an escalation in the digital battlefield between Israel and Hezbollah, with healthcare infrastructure becoming the latest target in the ongoing conflict.

Transak Suffers Data Breach After Employee’s Laptop Hack

Crypto payment services provider Transak has experienced a significant data breach, affecting over 92,000 users due to a phishing attack on an employee’s laptop. The breach exposed sensitive information, including passport details, driver’s licenses, and selfies used for KYC verification.

Transak, which operates as a fiat-to-crypto gateway for platforms like Binance and MetaMask, has taken immediate action by engaging cybersecurity experts and notifying affected users. The company continues to investigate the full impact of the breach and enhance its security measures.
